Hungarian Medical Chamber (Magyar Orvosi Kamara, MOK)

Overview

MOK is the statutory professional body for physicians in Hungary. Membership is mandatory for practising doctors. MOK maintains the public register of licensed physicians, oversees professional ethics, and operates regional disciplinary panels. Hungarian dental practitioners are registered through the Hungarian Dental Chamber (Magyar Orvostudományi Társaságok és Egyesületek Szövetsége).

What It Covers

Chamber registration confirms that the individual physician holds an accredited medical qualification, has met fitness-to-practise requirements, and is legally authorised to practise. The register is searchable by name and can be used to verify credentials of any Hungarian-trained or Hungarian-licensed clinician.

Limitations

Chamber registration is individual, not institutional. It confirms a licence to practise but does not accredit clinics or assess clinical outcomes. Patients should separately verify that the clinic itself holds appropriate operational licensing from the Hungarian National Public Health Centre (NNK).

Renewal and Validity

Hungarian medical licences are subject to continuing professional development requirements and ethics oversight. Disciplinary actions are recorded in the public register.

Verify any claim of Hungarian Dental Association accreditation directly at: mok.hu

If a clinic claims this accreditation but does not appear in the public register, ask for the certificate number and expiry date. Contact the accrediting body directly to confirm.
