National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers

Held by 1 clinic in our registry. 1 independently verified.

Overview

NABH is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India, established to operate accreditation programmes for healthcare organisations in India. It is the primary hospital accreditation body in India and its standards are aligned with ISQua (International Society for Quality in Health Care) guidelines.

Founded: 2005 · Headquarters: New Delhi, India

What It Covers

NABH accreditation covers patient rights, management of medication, hospital infection control, continuous quality improvement, responsibilities of management, facility management and safety, and clinical care processes. Evaluation involves document review and on-site assessment by trained assessors.

Limitations

NABH accreditation applies to the hospital as a whole, not to individual practitioners or departments. NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) is a separate body that accredits laboratories. Some facilities conflate the two. NABH does not assess individual surgical outcomes.

Renewal and Validity

NABH accreditation is valid for three years with mandatory surveillance assessments during the cycle. Renewal requires a full re-assessment.
